Re-verify site in Google Webmaster

Hi folks,

I was struggling to re-verify my website in google’s webmaster. I found a way through which you can easily re-verify your site.

Problem Statement

The problem here is google webmaster asks to re-verify  your site if you want to set a preferred domain. The main use of setting the preferred domain (www version and non-www version) is the other end. Before that how to re-verify your site?

Solution

For example if i want to re-verify my domain sub domain  www.techtalk.neuronring.com. For that first add www and non-www versions of the site in webmaster. For instance i added http://techtalk.neuronring.com and www.techtalk.neuronring.com and verified both the sites.

Now the main picture:

You want to set the preferred domain. goto dashboard of the site you want to re-verify. Click settings—>set preferred domain.

Now if  you set your preferred domain, you will get an error saying to re-verify the ownership.

A piece of cake

1. Goto dashboard —> click on the site you want to reverify.——->note the url in the address bar. It should be  https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/dashboard?hl=en&siteUrl=http%3A%2F%2Ftechtalk.neuronring.com%2F               (in my example)

2. Remove the dashboard?hl=en& and replace it with verification?  Press enter. Thats all re-verification is done.

3. Now you can set your preferred domain with freedom.
